Welcome to the

Tam Bao Temple

Home Page

Tam Bao Temple is a five-acre oasis of peace and serenity just minutes from downtown Baton Rouge where Buddhists and friends of every religion practice mindfulness meditation and cultivate compassion for all living things.

On Friday evenings from 7:20 to 9:00, an English-speaking Sangha practices sitting meditation and walking meditation and discusses some aspect of Buddhism based on a reading.

Please come and join Abbot Thich Dao Quang (Thay) and the other members of the Sangha.

May 2-3 the Tam Bao Temple will have a celebration for the Buddha birthday.  We will celebrate the 24th year anniversary as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new service hall.

We are expecting more than 30 monks, nuns and numerous other people from around the US for this event. The event will start with a music celebration on Saturday, May 2 around 6 PM and the ceremony will follow on Sunday morning.

"Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: it transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural & spiritual, and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual, as a meaningful unity" A widely cited, but apparently spurious quotation attributed to Albert Einstein
